SG Job Role:

Product Manager

My qualities:

Dogged, honest, tenacious, thorough.

A little bit about me:

My nickname is The Claw.

I started MTB racing in 1993, in the middle of the mountain biking boom. Spectacularly uncoordinated, my results started to improve when I switched to road racing at the end of my last year in the junior category. Interesting point, my very first road race was the 1998 Junior National Road Championships in Stevenage, where I managed to finish in the bunch, gobsmacked by the presence of an already rising star, Bradley Wiggins.

In 2001 I moved to France to race for a French amateur team, VS Quimper, with some backing from the Dave Rayner Fund. Mainly I ate croissants and drank coffee, taught myself French so I could speak to the local female population, and got a good kicking in the 70-odd races I lined up for each year. I won a handful of races in my four seasons there, but more than anything, I felt I had indulged my fantasy of cycling full time and doing nothing else. I also learnt that a simple life doing things you enjoy is better than a complicated life always aiming for a distant goal.

Since those halcyon days of my early twenties, riding and drinking coffee all day, I have mainly been doing financial sales jobs and navigating life’s game of snakes and ladders in central London. Joining Stolen Goat is the culmination of many years of feeling that there was more to life than selling information to disinterested lawyers and that I had been right first time around: I should stick to talking about cycling and drinking coffee, my two strongest points.

In the last few years I have ridden the first ever edition of the Haute Route in 2011, Gran Fondo Milan-San Remo, Majorca 312, Paris-Roubaix and dabbled at triathlon at the Majorca 70.3 half Ironman. My running isn’t pretty.

I’ll be heading up the product department for Stolen Goat….¬†watch this space! There are many new products on the horizon and if you think we’re missing something from our current range, let us know!
