Recently, we partnered up with Girls That Ride Bikes, an up and coming collective of women that just want to ride their bikes and enjoy the outdoors in a supportive and inclusive way. They have a very cool “Wild Weekender” trip coming up that has some availability left if you’re quick. Naturally we made some stunning kit to go with it and everything around the group. You can see the kit here.
In the meantime we asked founder of the group, Roanna Warren, to share a little backstory on Girls That Ride Bikes…
I started out riding with my husband and his friends, after they suggested I join them for a “mountain bike ride.” At the time, I naively thought that just meant riding off-road instead of on tarmac. Next thing I knew, we were descending a steep track on the Quantock Hills — full of jump gaps, loose rock, and all sorts of things I didn’t know how to handle. I genuinely questioned whether I’d ever ride mountain bikes again… or if I’d ever be capable of keeping up with the guys.
But over time — and with a bit of coaching, I got to grips with the basics: body position, bike control, reading the trail. And then something clicked. That one terrifying ride turned into a year-long trip through the best bike parks in Wales, Australia, and New Zealand. A bit of a baptism by mud, but I was hooked.
A few years later, after having children, everything changed. I couldn’t just head out for a ride with my partner anymore, one of us always needed to be home. And so, I found myself wondering: who else might want to ride? I missed the rhythm, the freedom, the headspace of even a short loop.
That question — who can I ride with? — is where Girls That Ride Bikes began.
What started as a search for company became something much more: a joyfully scrappy collective of women carving out time together on two wheels, whatever their pace, place, or past with bikes.
We weren’t trying to start a movement. We just wanted good company. The kind that doesn’t ask how far or how fast you’re going, only whether you fancy a coffee or pub stop at the end. It began in Dorset, a mix of winding lanes, wet socks, midweek meet-ups, and that rare alchemy that happens when women ride together without pressure or pretence.
Now, GTRB stretches across Dorset, Hampshire, Somerset and beyond. It’s grown quietly, organically, joyfully, always rooted in the same ethos: come as you are. There’s no hierarchy, no gatekeeping, no dropped riders.
We’ve taken on some big rides together too — from Chase the Sun (both north and south) to the Dorset Dirt Dash, the Dorset Divide, and all kinds of triathlons (sprint, standard, 70.3 relay). We’ve cheered each other up climbs and shouted from the side lines in the rain.
The Wild Weekender
This summer, we’re doing something a bit special.
The GTRB Wild Weekender is our first proper gathering to reach more than just our current audience, to share this with women from further afield. Part bike festival and part retreat. Set at Durweston Island – a unique piece of land surrounded by water and amazing trails. Expect organised rides for all abilities, river swims and SUP, a few relaxed workshops, live music, woodfired sauna, yoga, a line-up of inspirational speakers and the kind of late-night chats that start over paella and drift into stargazing.
Stolen Goat GTRB Kit
We’re buzzing to be working with Stolen Goat to create a limited edition GTRB kit collection. It’s being launched especially for the Weekender — but anyone can buy one, whether you’re joining us in person or cheering from afar. It’s a kit that reflects our story: the mud, the magic, and the freedom of women riding together. – Check out the range here >>
Why We Ride
At its heart, GTRB isn’t about KOMs or ticking off centuries. It’s about creating a safe, welcoming corner of the cycling world — especially for women who haven’t always felt like they belonged. It’s about showing up. In whatever body you’re in, with whatever bike you’ve got.
It’s about the moments in between — the mechanical faffs, the snack stops, the shared silence of a climb. It’s about fresh air, friendship, and sometimes just 60 minutes of headspace on a Tuesday.
We ride for sanity. For sisterhood. For stories. And now — for the Wild Weekender.
See you by the river?
