Having put a few good rides into a Neat Bodyline short sleeve jersey (XXL) I bought the Jaffa Ibex long sleeve in XL – 1.91 m 97kg – the fit is again superb and just a little closer than the XXL Neat. I typically wear it over a sleeveless base layer.
It’s a dark navy with eye-catching rainbow bands, without saying ‘world champion’, and there’s a little reflective section on the centre pocket.
The zip-accessed valuables pocket is larger on these jerseys than on the older Neat Bodyline and it easily swallows my 16 x 8 cm phone plus keys and cards.
There’s an aero-ribbing pattern to the sleeves, which aren’t insulating in the same way as, say, Orkaan armwarmers. You can feel the wind blowing through them, which is fine for a 2/3 season jersey and helps to avoid overheating when climbing hard.
Sweat and light showers aren’t a problem for this material and the jersey stays put even when climbing in and out of the saddle with full pockets. It’s great that the snug fit stays the same from setting off on a morning ride with full pockets to finishing in the afternoon with empty ones.
Good camlock zip stays where you leave it, but it’s easy to find and adjust without looking.
All in all it’s a great road jersey which is going to see plenty of service until Sept/Oct.
