Paris Roubaix 2015 is upon us this weekend!
The legendary Paris Roubaix is the epitome of one day racing, and it rolls around as part of the Spring Classics all of a sudden, then leaves us for another year.
I’m a huge fan of the Tour de France but in terms of excitement and sheer unexpected action you simply can’t beat Paris Roubaix as a road racing fan. It’s the one that all pro riders want on their palmares.
Brutal cobbles that are often slippery and muddy, steep climbs, long distance, narrow roads, unpredictable weather conditions and a velodrome finish – what’s not to love?!
The joy of Paris Roubaix is that it quickly descends into every man for himself – teams can rarely dominate here and small breakaways quickly form and usually the fans get what they want – a gutsy, tank emptying finish from a hell bent rider who crosses the line wearing mud, a grimace and a tear in his eye.
I can’t wait for Sunday’s race!
