Apparently at this time of year – some people start buying each other gifts! Forget that, it’s not Christmas quite yet so lets all focus on ourselves for a bit longer shall we? If the thought of doing the Christmas shopping sends shivers down your spine then have a look at these lovely items which are a great way to treat yourself (lets face it – it isn’t easy being you so you need a reward at least 6 times a year).

1. A New Bike of course!

What could be more selfish than blowing your entire Christmas budget (for the next 5 years) on a brand spanking new bike? This time of year it’s getting cold out and so we all need a little more motivation. There is nothing more motivating than a new bike – that is a scientifically made up fact.

There are plenty of bikes out there, and I’m not about to tell you what you should buy. But for me – a new Starley bike would be mighty tempting if I could get away with such a purchase

2. G.O.A.T

G.O.A.T small

Get Out And Train. G.O.A.T – it’s a simple acronym but a great motivator. Ready at the end of November and despatched to you straight away is this highly inspiring G.O.A.T tee – available now at a pre-order price of £18..

3. Samsung Galaxy S4 – Built with Ant+

samsung galaxy s4 ant+

I’m in need of a new phone, as android fan I am very impressed with the latest offering from Samsung. As a cyclist I’m even more impressed with it as it comes fully loaded with ANT+ wireless technology built right in. This means that any existing Ant+ hardware like heart rate monitors, cadence monitors, power meters and so on will be able to talk directly to your phone meaning that some pretty cool apps could leverage all this data in real time. A good phone could potentially now give you all the features and more of a top of the range garmin device…. interesting.

4. Kask Infinity Aero Helmet

In all seriousness it’s a great time of year to get a new head lid especially as it starts to get icy out there. I confess, I’m a real sucker for Kask helmets. I don’t own one yet and the price tag (around £200) is somewhat prohibitive but the Kask Infinity Aero helmet is a real thing of beauty. It keeps you safe so your loved one simply can’t complain about the cost!

5. Jersey for the trails

Repack Berino - Merino Wool and Bamboo Charcoal blend long sleeve ride jersey from Repack (5)

Hitting the trails over the colder months? The Repack Berino (Merino and Bamboo blend) is by far one of our most popular jersey purchases on the site. Spoil yourself and grab a Repack Berino today or if it’s not your cup of tea – check out our other cycling Jerseys.

6. ICEdot Crash Sensor

ICEdot Crash Sensor (7)

By far the most revolutionary piece of technology released in the cycling sector this year is the ICEdot crash sensor – potentially this gift is a good one to ask for rather than buy yourself as whoever buying it for you will feel all warm inside that you have a built in safety mechanism for your solo rides. It’s the gift that keeps on giving and we are proud stockists.

7. Strada A23 Velocity Wheelset

strada wheels A23 Velocity wheelset

I recently bought a new set of wheels. Supplied and handbuilt by the awesome chaps over at Strada Wheels, these A23 Velocity wheels are by far the best wheel purchase I have ever made. They have been described as “Clinchular” as they have all the benefits of a tubular tyre (smooth ride quality, lower rolling resistance) with the convenience of a clincher tyre (ease of installation, easy to repair a flat). The added rim width (23mm) makes the tyre wall sit straighter on the rim providing a ride like a tubular with the convenience of a clincher. If you cover a lot of miles in a day the added comfort will definitely be appreciated. Wheels are never cheap so they are quite a selfish purchase at this time of year but Strada offer the biggest bang for your buck when it comes to building you an awesome set of wheels. You have my wordgo and check them out.

8. A stylish new commuter bag

Nisnas Industries Kul Rex Bag - Racing Stripe Edition (2)

We have a range of bags here at Stolen Goat including our very own Harris Tweed Musettes. But the talk of the town right now is the lovely handmade wood and leather bags by Nisnas Industries. They aren’t cheap but the craftsmanship is second to none and they even have a nifty way of attaching to your frame. Nice work!

9. A Snazzy New Art Print

If you’re an arty person or just someone who loves beautiful cycling related imagery then check out our Prints Section. This piece titled Clean & Clear by Mr Baker is selling out fast and since it’s limited edition, with each one being signed and numbered, it’s clear to see why.
